The Charter Institute proudly recognizes Mitzi Faust of Calhoun Falls Charter School as our February Teacher of the Month! A dedicated and passionate educator, Ms. Faust has spent over 25 years sharing her love of learning with her middle school students. She believes every child has potential – her mission is to help them unlock it.
Ms. Faust’s journey in education started when her second-grade teacher, Mrs. Lindsay, instilled in her a love for reading and independent learning. These early experiences shaped Ms. Faust’s approach to teaching her own students, prioritizing critical thinking and self-study.
Beyond her middle school classroom, Ms. Faust has also impacted the trajectories of future educators. She has mentored over 20 college students as a Cooperating Teacher, spreading her love for teaching and sharing her knowledge with future educators. Many of these student-teachers later returned to teach alongside her, a true testament to her impact on their lives.
Teaching at CFCS in Calhoun Falls has been life-changing for Ms. Faust. The smaller class sizes and greater autonomy help her spend more time with each child who walks through her doors. She has found a renewed sense of purpose, continually striving to better herself and her students, always seeking to entice them to push past their limits and go above and beyond.
Outside of school, Ms. Faust is also an avid traveler, having explored 18 countries worldwide. Her global experiences allow her to bring a diverse perspective into her lessons, and help her students broaden their understanding of the world.
“In Mrs. Faust’s first year, she has quickly become an integral part of the CFCS family. She works diligently to help her students develop strong reading, writing, and communication skills,” said Lori Lindler, Assistant Principal at CFCS. “She sets high expectations for her students and works alongside them to help them reach their goals. Mrs. Faust enthusiastically shares her knowledge, patience, and kindness with her students to improve their academic and personal growth.”
